Hello everyone, I’ve been traveling for 8 months in South America, and during this trip I have encountered with a phenomenon, that I believe is very common.I would love to share my story with you in order to help you avoid this kind of grief, and simply enjoy your vacation. In the 8/8/08, after getting all the relevant information I booked and paid by a Western Union money transfer of 1450$ for a yacht named Encantada for 8 days / 7 nights between the 31/08-07/09/08.This is a tourist superior class yacht with a guide in level of 2 / 3.On the 30/08, one night before the Cruz I got an e-mail from the boss of the agency I booked from, telling me that she is very sorry, but it seems that there is a problem with the agency of the Encantada and that I have no room on this yacht, so in order that I wont get hurt from this situation she had transferred me to an other yacht with the same conditions named Amigo. After calling her early in the morning, and making sure again that the price is the same and that the conditions are indeed the same I got on the yacht.Luckily for me, the first day of the Cruz was on the central island, so the yacht was planned to start sailing in the evening.Once I got aboard I was amazed to realize that I was scammed. The yacht class was something between economic and tourist. Small small rooms, no hot water, no sun deck. The guide level was 1 (which means he hardly knows English and doesn’t try to teach us anything, just tries to be funny), and the people on board paid significantly less money then my 1,450$.I got off the yacht and called the boss.I told her that this is not what I paid for, this is not what she promised me, and I want my money back. She said that she will give me back my money, that its not a problem, and all I have to do is send her worker my bank account details. Since then it’s a never-ending chase. I’ve encountered countless time that the worker and the boss avoided me on the phone. Each time that I was lucky enough to get an hold of the boss – she had told me some different lie, saying that she will make the transfer the next day, or that she already made the transfer but doesn’t have the confirmation number to give me, that she doesn’t know the status of the transfer at this specific moment, etc. Today is the 06/11/08. More then 2 months had past, and still – no money. There is a good chance that I will never see my money again. But you can avoid from this kind of thing happening to you. The story here is clear – After getting paid for the yacht, the boss transfers the client to a lower class yacht. Most of the people that made all the long and expensive way to the Galapagos will agree to stay on board and “make the best out of the situation”. The boss puts in her pocket the money difference, which comes from the difference of the yachts class.A payment of a wire transfer like “Western Union” (as demanded by the agency) cannot be canceled like a credit card payment. In this case – You will easily find yourself like I found my self – With NO CRUZ, NO MONEY, and a lot of FRUSTRATION. So I cant tell you where to go in order to get your magical Galapagos experience. But I can tell you where not to go. The name of the agency is "Unforgettable Expedition".The agency is located in Quito, Ecuador. The name of the worker I worked with is Rocio - Rocio Cajar Martinez-Aparicio. The name of the boss is Cathy - Miuriel Catalina Leiva Naranjo. You are more then welcome to read our e-mail correspondence in order to get whole picture. It’s attached. As well, for any questions you can contact me on:Twins10@inter.net.il I wish you a great trip… Best regards,Tamar Ayalon.Israel.
